Benjamin De Wilde
GP trainee .
Hello!
My name is Benjamin De Wilde (he/him). I was born in Tanzania and graduated as a medical doctor from Ghent University in 2025.
As a GP in training, I will be joining the Praxis team three days a week. This means I work independently as a doctor, while continuing my training under the guidance and supervision of my GP trainer.
Alongside my studies, I have always been committed to social and societal causes. I worked as a youth leader for several organisations and contributed to promoting equal opportunities and sexual health and rights through AfroMedica and Change. My interest in global health took me to San Francisco in 2025, where I pursued a Master’s degree in Global Health.
Research also plays an important role in my professional life. As a PhD researcher, I study the relationship between climate, the environment and health, with a particular focus on how we, as doctors, can best prepare for the health challenges associated with a changing environment.
What particularly appeals to me about general practice is the opportunity to bring all these perspectives together. To me, health is not just about illness or symptoms; it is also shaped by the environment we live in, our background, and the circumstances that affect our lives.
As a GP, I therefore aim to listen with a broad and open perspective, understand what matters to you, and work together to find care that suits your needs.
I look forward to meeting you and accompanying you on your healthcare journey!
